Under 9s Lose to More Experienced Swardeston

GREAT MELTON U9s lost to SWARDESTON U9s by 63 runs at Hilltops in the John Dewing Competition

Batting first, Great Melton were 222-5 (197) after 8 overs against a more experienced Swardeston team but, in the second half of the innings Josh Wright, Isaac Boyce, Charlie Green and Lohit Kannan batted with determination and moved the final score onto 254-6(224). Great Melton's bowling was accurate but the breakthrough did not come and Swardeston won by 63 runs. Captain Holly Marchant showed mature and calm organisation of the fielding, Rebecca Greenslade saved several runs with Jack Rooney and Oliver Black bowling very economically. The team again showed progress and Josh Wright was another young player making his debut for the Club.
