U9’s winning streak comes to end

After 3 consecutive wins the Under 9 team lost to Vauxhall Mallards at Melton Park on Monday evening. Batting first Gt Melton made 241. Against very accurate bowling, the loss of only 5 wickets was commendable. Charlie again top scored with 10 not out. Cassie,Holly, and Cameron were also not out showing determined resistance. Having posted a low score it would have been understandable if the team showed signs of a loss of confidence. However, under the captaincy and motivation of Lohit they took the field determined to take wickets. Cassie bowled with control and accuracy taking two wickets, one of which was an excellent catch behind the stumps by Nat. Cassie and Lohit took a wicket each and sharp fielding resulted in two run outs. Ben and Ethan both put everything they could into stopping the runs and putting the visitors under pressure. Despite taking more wickets than the opposition the losing margin was 59 runs. This was a spirited performance by the under 9s whose understanding of the game is growing with each fixture.
