Opting to field first, Gt Melton restricted the visitors to 158 for 2. On his debut for the club, Harry Jackson took his first competitive wicket. Wicket keeper James Cooper made some impressive stops and as always, Henry Marsh showed great fielding skills. Captain Ben Johnson repeatedly beat the bat without claiming a wicket during 3 overs of accurate pace bowling. Ethan Ellis was alert and dived spectacularly on occasions attempting to take the ball. The target set by Topcroft was one Gt Melton were capable of reaching. Openers Max Wilson and Henry Marsh got off to a characteristically solid start. Runs were hard to come by with Max the only batter to hit a boundary. Alfie Sutton, taking the pitch as a last minute substitute, had bowled well and followed this up with a focused innings in which he was not out. The final pair of Ben and Cassie Mawby needed a big score. Despite positive endeavour by them, accurate bowling by Topcroft secured the win for the visitors.
