U9s Let Victory Slip at Vauxhall Mallards

GREAT MELTON U9s lost to VAUXHALL MALLARDS by 12 runs in the John Dewing Competition

Batting first, Great Melton got off to a slow start due to some accurate bowling by Vauxhall Mallards. It took determined batting by Cassie Mawby, making 14 not out, to give some momentum to the innings. Dilshan Rai and Corey Rushton contributed valuable runs with Great Melton finishing on 272 for 4. For much of the Vauxhall Mallards' innings Great Melton were in a winning position. James Attfield produced a brilliant stop and throw resulting in a run out. The final pair produced 29 runs taking the home team to 276 for 2 a winning margin of 12 runs with 4 runs per wicket deducted.

Team: Ben Johnson (c) Corey Rushton (w/k), Cassie Mawby, Joseph Graves, James Attfield, Henry Marsh, Max Wilson, Dilshan Rai.
