GREAT MELTON U9s beat GREAT ELLINGHAM U9s by 53 runs at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League
Winning the toss captain Corey Rushton decided to field first. Accurate bowling restricted the visitors to 124 for 3, an overall score of 109. Jamie Granville took 2 for 3 runs and Corey the third wicket. The pressure placed on the batters was demonstrated by Louis Armstrong-Brown’s figures of 3 overs for 0 runs. The fielding by Gt Melton was excellent and Jack Ballam took a very difficult catch with a high and spinning ball at cover.
The Great Melton batters faced some testing bowling but Corey, James Cooper and Jamie each scored 12. In his debut game, Benedict Bailey scored his first runs for the club. Harrison Cunningham and Ethan Ellis batted and bowled with typical concentration and application with the innings closing on 187 for 5, an overall score of 162. Another strong performance by Corey’s team, who are showing a greater appreciation of the game with each match played.
