U13s too Strong for Bungay in ECB Competition.

Great Melton U13's (152-2) beat Bungay (61-7) by 91 runs at Melton Park in the ECB Competition

Great Melton U13s proved too strong for Bungay in the ECB Competition with Luke Marchant, Ryan Howard, Tom Moye and Matt Ling all notching unbeaten 30s as Melton won by 91 runs.  Opening pair Marchant (30 ret) & Howard (33 ret) got Melton off to a flying start  and the runs and boundaries continued to flow.  Soon it was Moye's turn to retire on 31, which included a six over mid wicket. This brought Thurston to the crease with a couple of overs left of the innings and the chance to get some quick boundaries, but not before Ling got his 30 and also had to retire.  Bungay got 2 quick wickets in the last over, Richards (0) and Wilson (0) being dismissed, which left Thurston 7 not out. Fuller ended innings the pick of the Bungay bowlers getting both of Melton's wickets.

Melton had a great start getting the wicket of Read with Marchant's first ball. After that Bungay found it difficult to score with some good accurate bowling from Melton and lost wickets at regular intervals with only Ling (16) and Scott (11) putting up any resistance. Bungay finished on 61-7 with the wickets coming from Marchant, Ling, Ingham, Beckett, Richards and two run outs by Keeley & Wilson.

Unfortunately Melton's reward for their victory is an away match against the winners of the Lowestoft/Fakenham game.

The Under 13s match against Swanton Morley and the U15s game against Dereham, both scheduled for Wednesday, have been called off because neither of the opposing clubs can raise sides!  It means, sadly,  that all of Melton's first 3 Alliance matches at U11, U13 & U15 have not been played because the opposition have defaulted.
