U11s Still Unbeaten as Swardeston & Old Buckenham are Swept Aside
GREAT MELTON U11s beat SWARDESTON U11s by 90 runs at Melton Park in the Terry Moore Trophy
The Under 11s swept Swardeston aside as they continued their all-conquering progress in the Terry Moore Trophy with a 90-run victory at rain-swept Melton Park. Melton's bowling and fielding proved just too good for the visitors who lost 11 wickets in scoring 273. Craig Wilson was his usual accurate self taking 2-2 in his 2 overs but Kyle Weston (1-4), Arvind Shanmugan (1-7), Lewis Thurston (1-11) and Tom Moye (1-11) plus five run outs by Weston (twice), Moye, Fergus Hughes and Patrick Walton meant Melton only had to chase 218 for victory. In fact, in increasingly heavy rain, Melton only lost one wicket in scoring 313 with Hughes, as usual, leading the way with 29, including 6 fours. Moye scored 14 and Wilson 9 but there were excellent partnerships by all four Melton pairs. Credit is due to Swardeston who stayed on the field in very miserable conditions in order to get the match finished.
GREAT MELTON U11s beat OLD BUCKENHAM U11s by 109 runs in the Terry Moore Trophy
Against Old Buckenham Patrick Walton (21), Fergus Hughes (19), Tom Moye (12), Lewis Thurston (9), Logan Stearman (9) and Kyle Weston (1) were all ‘not out' and, although Aimee Palmer (11) and Arvind Shanmugan were dismissed once, they still made positive contributions to Melton's 325-2 (315 net). Weston (3-5), Palmer (2-2), Moye (2-12) and Hughes (1-7) then got among the wickets as Old Buckenham were restricted to 251-9 (206 net) to give Melton victory by 109 runs.
