Teamwork the Key as U11s beat Norwich

GREAT MELTON U11s beat NORWICH U11s by 36 runs at Postwick in the Terry Moore Trophy

The Under 11s travelled to Norwich last night full of enthusiasm on a nice evening for cricket. After being put into bat Sam McKay and Noah Moore got the innings off to a strong start running hard between the wickets. James Alcock & Oliver Wormstone likewise ran numerous quick singles as well as hitting a nice boundary each. Blade Early and Luke Davies continued the scoring with Blade hitting 18 runs from his first four balls and a good innings was finished off well by Daniel Graves and Thomas Small posting a very competitiveย total of 313-4 (289 net)

Melton took the field with vigour and the energy throughout the second innings was key to the fielding success. The bowlers were well supported by a tight field and James managed a maiden with his first over of the day. Daniel and Oliver also bowled with great economy and this forced the Norwich pairs to take risks capitialised on by the Melton fielders, Luke, Blade and Sam getting a run-out each thanks to equally fine work by Noah behind the stumps. Noah managed to snaffle a catch of Luke's bowling and Blade and Sam added further wickets to restrict Norwich to 287-6 (251) andย ensure a win by 36 runs.ย A quite brilliant team performance epitomised by excellent andย spirited fielding. Well done team.
