GREAT MELTON U13s beat GREAT WITCHINGHAM U13s by 92 runs at Melton Park in the Alan Bridgewater Trophy
A splended all-round performance saw Melton U13s beat Great Witchingham by 92 runs in the Alan Bridgewater competition. With tight bowling and fielding Melton took 10 wickets in the visitors’ innings; three wickets each for Craig Attewell (3-1-10-3) and Ben Carding (2-0-19-3), two for Ryan Howard for a miserly 8 runs off 3 overs and a wicket each for Luke Marchant and Rob Smith. Alex Rennie and Craig Attewll vied with each other for ‘catch of the match’ with Alex getting his fingers under the ball just in time and Craig taking a catch over his shoulder while on the run. With 80 runs deducted from Witchingham’s 285 it all left Melton needing just 6 to win. The boys batted sensibly on the whole, only losing 3 wickets on the way to scoring 322 and a comfortable victory.
