Great Melton beat Hethersett & Tas Valley by 77 runs at Flordon in the Mid Norfolk Sunday League Boyle Division 1

Great Melton Sunday side finally got their season underway with a comprehensive 77 run victory against Hethersett & Tas Valley. New Sunday Captain George Bunn won the toss and elected to bat first on an excellent wicket given the recent weather conditions. Richard Wood and Bunn add 42 in quick time before Wood (18) was out lbw. Bunn (15) followed soon after caught behind, which brought together Martin Cooke (44) and Matt Clarke (56) who added 71 for the third wicket. Lee Whiddett (40) kept the innings moving forward accompanied by Simon Woolridge (13) with Connor Stearman and Michael Farmer seeing Melton through to a respectable total of 217 for 7 after 40 overs.

Melton then set about restricting Hethersett. Despite an early wicket J Curtis (34) and R Matthews (58 n.o) scored quickly punishing anything loose. Michael Farmer (1-26) claimed the wicket of Curtis before George Bunn (2-30) and Paul Stearman (4-33) wrapped the innings up with excellent line and length as Hethersett were all out for 140.
