Six out of Six for U11s in the Terry Moore Trophy
Great Melton U11s beat Thetford U11s by 86 runs at Shadwell in the Terry Moore Trophy
The Under 11s made it six wins out of six in the Terry Moore Trophy with a comprehensive 86-run demolition of a plucky but outclassed Thetford side. Melton made 293-1 in their 16 overs with all four batting pairs making good contributions, helped by several ‘extras'. Ryan Howard (8*) and Tom Moye (5*) got Melton off to a good start with a partnership of 23, Logan Stearman (8*) and Craig Wilson (2*) then added another 28. Luke Marchant (3) became the only Melton batsman to be dismissed when he was run out going for a cheeky single but he still added 20 with Connor Jermyn (1*) before Fergus Hughes (13*) and Lewis Thurston (3*) set the seal on a good team batting display with a stand of 21. Howard, Hughes and Stearman hit some particularly good shots in their innings.
Two wickets in skipper Ryan Howard's first over were a sign of things to come as Thetford's batsmen struggled against Melton's accurate bowling. Only last pair Caley (6*) and Bradley (2*) remained unbeaten as a ‘fourfer' from Hughes (2-0-5-4) plus wickets for Howard (3-0-10-2), Marchant (3-1-6-2), Moye (3-2-3-2), and Wilson (2-1-4-1) meant that Thetford finished on 247-11, a net score of 192. It was another convincing performance from the lads with Lewis Thurston enjoying a promosing debut and Logan Stearman continuing to improve behind the stumps.
All in all it has been a fantastic start to the junior season for all Melton's teams. This was the 19th win in 22 matches!
