Second win for Sunday Friendly Alliance team

GREAT MELTON SUNDAY A TEAM beat CRUSADERS by 148 runs at Town Close in the Sunday Friendly Alliance

Great Melton batted first and, after the early loss of Rob Smith, Joe Greenslade (51) and George Ducker(22) put on 71 in 9 overs either side of the only rain break. Runs were collected steadily throughout with contributions from Ben Carding (17) and Clive Gristwood (15). A final burst from Duncan Greenslade (37no) and Simon Carding (31) pushed the innings to 221-8 after the 40 overs.

The Crusaders top order were tested from the off by the opening spells of Tom Smith (6-1-11-1) and Ben Carding (5-0-22-2) backed up by 2 good slip catches from skipper Kevin Frazer.

The pressure was maintained by Sam Carding (4-0-8-2) and Peter Frazer (5-0-15-2) and when a run was atttempted to an apparent Tom Smith ‘misfield' leading to a run out, it only left one more wicket to take. After some beligerent hitting Crusaders' T Smith was bowled by Rob Smith to conclude the innings.  Crusaders were all out for 73 as the Great Melton Sunday friendly side achieved a comfortable 148- run victory.
