Second Loss for U15s in the Andy Seeley Trophy

GREAT MELTON U15s lost to GARBOLDISHAM U15’s by 23 runs at Melton Park in the Andy Seeley Trophy

On a wet May evening play looked doubtful but with everybody there play was delayed for 30 minutes to see if a game was possible. It stopped raining but with rain still in the air it was decided to reduce the match to 12 overs a side. Melton won the toss and put Garboldisham into bat. Melton found it difficult with the wet ball giving away a few no balls and Garboldisham raced to 87 off the first seven overs without loss. Craig Wilson made the first breakthrough in the eighth over trapping Campbell (29) LBW. Sam Nutt then bowled Penrose (27) in the next over, leaving 3 overs to go. There were two wickets in the next two consecutive overs, one from Luke Richards who bowled Elders (3) and the other from Thomas Moye who bowled Wyer (0). Garboldisham finished on 121-5, but not before losing their final wicket on the last ball with Simpson (1) being run out by Jack Williamson.

Melton knew they needed 10 an over to stand a chance of winning so they started very quickly racing to 36 off the first 3 overs. Luke Richards (13) was the first to get out getting bowled by Johnson in the fourth over. Thomas Moye (8) was the next to go in the seventh over bowled by Culling with the score on 65. Kyle Weston (24) after a very good knock was caught by Johnson off Elders bowling in the very next over. Craig Wilson (20 not out) continued his good batting form, but with Jack Williamson (1) being stumped and Becky Greenslade (2) being run out Melton finished 23 runs short by the end of their 12 overs.
