Sam Mann

Level 2 Coach; Right hand batsman; Right-arm off-spin bowler; Wicketkeeper

Sam, with twin brother Ben, originally joined the club from Cringleford at the beginning of 2003.  He was Player of the Year for both the Under 15s and the B Team in his first season and won the Under 17s trophy in 2004.   Sam has some talent for off-spin bowling but it is in the role of wicket-keeper batsmen that Sam first earned promotion to Melton A and, sometimes the First team, as well as getting into the County Under 16 and Under 17 squads before deciding to sample higher-level Alliance cricket at Old Buckenham.  Some highlights of his Old Bucks career were a Sunday League century against Thetford in 2008 and 113 for Old Buckenham A against Narborough in 2009.  A very talented cricketer with an engaging personality, Sam flitted between the A and 1st Teams following his move back to Melton in 2014 but finally pinned down a regular batsman/wicket-keeper slot in the Firsts in 2019 when he also completed 300 appearances.  Sam does his bit off the field too, being fully involved in coaching the juniors on Friday evenings, helping out with club events and providing his carpentry skills whenever needed.  His ‘antics’ on recent tours have also kept everybody highly amused and earned him the coveted ‘top tourist’ award for 2018 and 2019.
