Saham Toney A prove too strong for C team.

GREAT MELTON C  (7 pts) lost to SAHAM TONEY A (25pts) at Town Close.

A half century from Webster, ably supported by Goodwin, was the foundation of a more than competitive first innings total by the visitors at Town Close.  At 2-2 in the third over, after a run out and Stu Wilson’s fantastic off spun delivery removed Ling’s leg bail, Saham Toney survived a third when Webster (75) was adjudged not out stumped to put together an 88 run partnership with Goodwin (47). That decision proved pivotal as the game moved away from the hosts, despite some excellent bowling by Tom Moye (3-30). Bill (16) and Leicester (20) added to E. Huckle’s (17) earlier knock to take the mid Norfolk side past 200 and 5 batting points. Melton picked up 4 bowling points but knew some good batting was needed.

Steve Clarke fell lbw in the first over, and Matt Rennie(6) in the 7th, but the score was only on 10 as Fawad Kaiser was being circumspect. Tom Moye (9) gave Fawad (30) some support as the doctor peppered the land beyond long on before hard hands presented an easy catch to mid wicket.  Si Carding (21 and Stu Wilson (23) – with his first ever 6 – managed to get the hosts past the 3rd batting point but, with Webster bowling 5 maidens in 6 overs, Saham Toney proved too strong  as the Melton innings closed on 124-8.
