Promising Performance by U9s at Brooke

GREAT MELTON U9s lost to BROOKE U9s by 9 runs at Brooke in the John Dewing Competition

The under 9s lost their opening match of the season away to Brooke by just 9 runs. Fielding first, Gt Melton placed the batters under great pressure. Inspired fielding and throwing, notably by Ethan Ellis, Jamie Granville and Louis Armstrong-Brown led to 3 run outs. Daniel Graves and Jamie bowled straight and took wickets. The home team were restricted to 158 for 6.

Alice Greenslade and Louis opened the batting. Daniel top scored with 13. Some very positive running by Corey Ruston and Krishna Patel placed Brooke under pressure and moved Great Melton into a winning position. James hit 9 and, with one over to go, a victory seemed probable. However, some accurate bowling by Brooke resulted in 6 wickets being lost and with 149 scored by Gt Melton the home team celebrated 9-run win. This was a very positive result and after just three Friday coaching sessions was a commendable performance.
