Newcomers Snettisham Too Good for Melton A

Norfolk Alliance Division 5

Snettisham 86 / 1 (25 pts) beat Great Melton A 85 / 0 (0pts) by 9 wickets

Snettisham vice Captain John Forder hit consecutive boundaries to win the match as Snettisham began their debut Alliance League season with a comprehensive victory.

Great Melton A were always up against it, falling to 0 – 2 off 7 deliveries, and battling to register 86 before being bowled out in circa 35 overs.

D.Twiddy (30*) then aided J. Forder – who finished on 35 not out – as the hosts got home with nearly 34 overs to spare.

This was an inauspicious start for Melton’s 2nd X1 team who have suffered successive relegations after the fabulous unbeaten 2014 season.

The visitors were always struggling after losing two quick early wickets having been asked to bat first on a green wicket, with A Daniels begging 3-9 as they succumbed with over 60 deliveries unused.

It was a lopsided score card, with only Woody Loines, 42, making any major contribution with a succession of ducks contributing to the post match fines session.

Forder hit 6 boundaries in his innings, with debutant Craig Wilson suffering the ignominy of conceding the losing runs in the 16th over of the second innings.
