Melton U13s Too Strong for Rocklands

GREAT MELTON U13s beat ROCKLANDS U13s by 105 runs at Melton Park in the Alan Bridgewater Trophy

With Harrison Cunningham and Joseph Graves retiring having scored 30, Corey Rushton hitting 19, Ben Johnson 19 not out and Jamie Granville 7 not out, Melton showed their batting strength against Rocklands, totalling 137-1 in their 16 overs.

Their bowling was no less effective as Cunningham (2-0-11-3), Sam Davey (2-1-2-2), Henry Marsh (2-0-12-1) and Johnson (1-0-1-1) then combined to bowl out the visitors for 32 in 11 overs.  Captain Flynn Crosthwaite scored 19 for Rocklands but the next highest score was 5  as 4 Rocklands batsmen went for ducks!

It was the U13s second Alliance Competition win, having already defeated Hethersett & Tas Valley.  Their ECB Cup experience was short-lived, however, as they were defeated by 5 wickets in the first round by a very strong Brooke side made up almost entirely of County players.
