Melton Girls Give Champs a Good Game

Lou Cadge won the toss and asked Fakenham, the defending league champions, to bat 1st on another excellent Melton park strip. Lou, Amie Palmer and Emily Reay bowled with good control and conceded only 61 runs off their 11 overs. Beth Harmer bowled well and took her 1st wicket in senior cricket. Beth was also unlucky not to take a flying one handed catch in the gully. Fakenham closed on a imposing 166-1

The ladies were looking for a solid display with the bat following the 67 all out in the last game and, against a fully county strength attack, the batters of Lou Cadge, Emily Reay, Amie Palmer and Robyn Edge batted with control and the ladies finished on 97-2.
A vastly improved display with good efforts in the field from all including Hannah behind the stumps and fielding from Laura, Leah, Rachael and Beckie plus a Melton Début from Beth Nunn who patrolled the fine leg boundary with energy.
Thanks to all our supporters, scorer Joanne Brook and Chris Greenslade for umpiring ( even with the toilet break half way through the 2nd innings).
