Matt Clarke

Website/Social Media Administrator; Social/Fundraising Sub Committee Member; Right-hand batsman; Right-arm bowler; Wicketkeeper

Clarkey is the only one of the club’s outstanding crop of youngsters from 2003-4 to still be playing for Great Melton. He burst onto the senior scene in 2004 with 524 runs for the first team to earn him the Under 19 Batsman of the Year Award for the Norfolk League and the Mercury Series Batsman of the Year as well as our own First Team and Sunday Player of the Year awards.  After that stella year he flitted between First and A Teams for a while but has been an established First Team top-order batsman for the last 9 seasons.  He’s also a decent fielder and a capable wicketkeeper with plenty of ‘chat’ and has proven a good skipper of the club’s junior sides and the Sunday side.  Recently, as a member of the Social & Fundraising Sub-Committee, he has been prominent in organising the tour and the Beer Festival, has worked to attract sponsors and is in charge of the club website and social media platforms.  He has certainly does his bit for the club off the field and, as the highest aggregate run scorer in the history of the club, his record on it speaks for itself.
