Mark Scott

Vice Chairman

After retiring at the end of the 2013 season to concentrate on his family, his cycling and his golf Mark, aka Hubert, returned to the club as Vice Chairman at the 2019 A.G.M.  He first joined Melton in 2008 having played most of his cricket with Coltishall and then with the merged Norwich and Coltishall Wanderers.  A consistent performer at both Norfolk League and Alliance level, Mark captained Coltishall for 5 seasons, a period that saw the club win the NCL title in 2002 and, with it, promotion to the Alliance. A medium fast bowler, he took 20-plus wickets in 3 of his 6 seasons for Melton First Team, with his 6 for 15 against Stow “A” in 2010 his best return.  He was also a much under-rated and frequently under-used batsmen as the depth of batting talent in the first team inevitably saw him going in at 7 or 8. He was appointed First Team Captain in 2010 and, in his first season in charge, he led the team to the Division 4 title and followed that up with a second successive championship and promotion to Division 2 in 2011 before stepping down as skipper after a 5th place finish in Division 2 in 2012.  While he is not planning to make any sort of playing comeback the club will certainly benefit from his experience, cricketing knowledge and confident, straight-talking approach.
