20 years after Lucy Phoenix & Kara Shingleton became the first females to play cricket for Melton, the Women & Girls’ section at the club is thriving. With husband & wife team Trish (Manager) & Jonathan Ellse (Coach) in charge the ladies are looking forward to an exciting season in the Shell Women’s Summer League while both the U13 & U11 Girls will compete in the SNCL.
Training night is Thursday (6.30 p.m.) for the women & older girls so, if any partners, wives, mums or sisters fancy giving cricket a try, come and join us.
No previous experience is needed – just be prepared to have some fun.
We are excited to be part of the Norfolk Cricket Board’s new initiative – The Women’s Softball League. This is designed for those new to the sport or not confident of playing with the hardball and so provides an opportunity for those ladies and girls in Year 8 and above to get involved. The emphasis is on participation and fun and we are looking for new players to come along and join us: mums, sisters, aunties, friends – you are all welcome.
If you would like to get involved please email Trish Ellse, our ladies’ manager on firstname.lastname@example.org
We would also love to find a shirt sponsor to “kit out” our new team so please email Trish if you may be able to help out.
