Junior Cricket at Great Melton

Junior Cricket at
Great Melton CC

Great Melton boasts one of the largest and most successful junior sections in Norfolk with over 100 juniors registered at the club each year. We have 8 different junior teams from U9-U19 (boys and girls) who play across 3 different competitions throughout the season. In 2021, the club expects to play over 70 games of junior cricket enabling all those who are ready and willing, to take part in competitive matches.

For the first time this season, we are also running the ECB All Stars and Dynamos programmes aimed at children aged 5-11 who are new to cricket. These programmes will run alongside our usual club training.

Under 9s

Our Under 9 section is aimed at those children who have already experienced cricket and feel ready to progress to playing hardball cricket and participating in competitive matches against other clubs. Training sessions are designed to develop skills across the 3 areas of the sport: batting, bowling and fielding whilst maintaining high levels of enjoyment. With the introduction of competitive matches, players begin to put their skills into practice under the guidance of their coaches. All matches are played in the “pairs” format which allows batters to develop their confidence without the fear of dismissal.

Sessions will be run at Great Melton cricket club on a Friday night from 1830 to 2000 starting on Friday 23rd April and run until Friday 23rd July. Any kit needed can be provided (Covid restrictions allowing) although children are welcome to bring their own.
