Impressive Start in the SNCL for the U13’s Boys

Great Melton U13’s Boys beat Old Buckenham U13’s by 86 runs at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League
The U13’s boys started their SNCL campaign with an impressive win against Old Buckenham at Melton Park in glorious sunshine.Thomas Moye (44 Not Out) opened with Craig Wilson (5) and got to 23 off 3 overs before Craig was run out trying to go for 2 and pulling his calf muscle going for the second. In came Fergus Hughes (39) and put on a partnership of 93 for the next wicket when Fergus was caught by Bob at mid-wicket at the second attempt. Luke Richards (3 Not Out) came in with 4 overs left and moved the final score onto 132-2. This included 41 extras with the pick of Old Buckenham’s bowlers D.Bint (3-0-11-0) & Harry (2-0-7-0).
Craig Wilson struck in the first over getting the wicket of D.Bint (0) caught by Thomas Moye. Great Melton then had to wait until the seventh over before James Carter bowled a wicket maiden getting H.Pulham (0) caught by Luke Richards and then running out Bob (6). Zak Ashdown then came into bowl on his U13’s debut and got a wicket on his very first ball by getting Harry (0) caught by Fergus Hughes. Old Buckenham were now in trouble with the score on 21 for the loss of four wickets.  Old Buckenham then managed to put on 23 before Luke Richards came on to bowl the penultimate over and got a two wicket maiden by removing J Hoyte (5) & H.Free (8) both bowled. Two more runs were added to the last over so Old Buckenham finished with 46 -6 with the extras contributing 26 runs to the overall total.
Great Melton’s stands out bowlers were Craig 2-2-0-1 which is now his fifth maiden in a row and Luke Richards 1-1-0-2 with a double wicket maiden. With the rest of the bowlers figures as follows:
Zak Ashdown 3-0-13-1, James Carter 3-1-9-1, Thomas Moye 2-0-2-0, , Fergus Hughes 2-0-8-0 & Finlay Hughes 3-1-8-0.
