Great Melton Women in Action at Last!

GREAT MELTON WOMEN lost to FAKENHAM Women by 22 runs at Melton Park in the TGS Women's League

After a season of frustration caused by the weather and team-raising difficulties, Great Melton's first-ever Women's team finally took to the field against Fakenham and, although they lost, they gave a very good account of themselves in a match that saw 280 runs scored and NO wickets taken!  The visitors won the toss, decided to bat first and scored 151 thanks to Emily Woodhouse's 74 and Beth Holmes 43.  Melton tried hard in the field but chances were at a premium with all the bowlers striving to take wickets.

Great Melton replied with a strong pairing of Robyn Edge and Emily Reay.   Emily (72 not out) struck the ball very cleanly in a superb innings of 72 not out and with Robyn (19 not out) always looking for the single and providing good support, Fakenhams bowlers were looking worried.  It took the bowling of Fakenham's captain Woodhouse to close the game out for Fakenham and prevent Melton from winning. Many Thanks to David Bunn for umpiring.
