Excellent batting by Aimee Palmer and Logan Stearman was a feature of Great Melton Under 11s’ final Terry Moore Trophy victory at home to Hethersett & Tas Valley. Aimee smashed her highest score, 35 not out in just 4 overs, an innings that included 6 fours and a six while Logan’s unbeaten 25 featured some excellent running between the wickets as well as 4 boundaries. With Fergus Hughes chipping in with 15 (out once), Arving Shanmugan 7 and Kyle Weston also hitting his top score of 8 not out, Melton totalled 330-5, a net score of 305 to win by 86 runs. Tas Valley’s innings had finished on 254-7 (219 net). After Palmer and Shanmugan’s opening 4 overs had conceded only 2 runs, there were wickets for Hughes (3-0-12-3), Craig Wilson (3-1-10-1), Weston (2-0-7-1) and Lewis Thurston (2-1-1-1) with skipper Tom Worley hitting Tas’ top score of 10 not out. Palmer and Stearman completed their star performances with a catch and a stumping.
Melton U11s have now won all 7 matches in the Terry Moore Trophy to top Group 1 and will play Bungay at Melton Park next Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals.
