Four More Wickets For Leo as C Team Crush 9-man Rollesby

GREAT MELTON C (25 points) beat ROLLESBY A (5 points) by 132 runs at Rollesby in the Lucas & Fettes Norfolk League Division 5

Leo DeSalis, 2nd in Melton's all-time list of wicket-takers, moved ever-closer to Alan Ely's record with 4-8 as Melton C comfortably defeated 9-man Rollesby A.  Having elected to bat the depleted home side did well to restrict Melton to 197-9 but batting was never easy on a slowish track.  Steve Clarke scratched around for 34 overs for 41 as others came and went.  Mally Howard added 32, Tim Hales 27 and Kevin Frazer 28 but nobody looked particularly comfortable or set and, although Rollesby skipper M.Browning ended with figures of 8-0-50-5, Jimmy Catchpole was the home side's best bowler with 12-2-27-3.

Daniel Hayward (7-3-14-1) and Stuart Wilson (7-1-18-0) bowled a good opening spell before DeSalis came on to remove Catchpole for 22 and, with the spin of Kevin Frazer (7-3-10-1) and Joe Bickel  (3-1-6-2), at one end and the ever-reliable DeSalis at the other Melton never relinquished their grip on the match.  DeSalis ended the Rollesby resistance by having England stumped off Tim Hales' pads with 12 overs remaining to give him figures of 9.4-4-8-4 and Melton victory by 132 runs.
