Great Melton U13s beat Topcroft U13s by 60 runs at Topcroft in the South Norfolk Community League.
A first fifty for Under 13s skipper, Ryan Howard, and an unbroken opening partnership of 118 between Howard and Patrick Walton gave Melton the platform for a convincing South Norfolk Community League win at Topcroft. Some sensible batting, that included a lot of quick singles, was a feature of Howard and Walton’s impressive stand, Howard finishing on 52 not out and Walton only 4 short of his half century on 46 not out.
Topcroft came out to bat chasing 119 to win of 16 overs, but lost their first wicket, R.Ellis, bowled by Tom Moye with his first delivery. Craig Wilson then came on to bowl in the fifth over and also got a wicket, that of J.Day (3), caught by Aimee Palmer off his first ball which put Topcroft on 13-2. Matt Ling was the next bowler to get into the action bowling Alger (3) with only his 3rd ball. Flatt (1) was then run out after some quick thinking by Lewis Thurston which left Topcroft at 34-4. Topcroft’s highest scoring batsman S.Day (18) was next to go, caught by Wilson off Thurston’s first over. Howard brought himself on with only a few overs left and bowled a maiden with his first and got the wicket of L.Williams (7) in his second over. This left the final pair in with 3 overs left, but Moye dismissed, T.Williams (4), caught by Walton, as Topcroft were finally bowled out for 58.
