HeadlinesFinal Coaching Session Tonight

Final Coaching Session Tonight

Weather permitting, the final junior coaching session of our rather disrupted summer takes place tonight at Melton Park.  Despite the rain, if tonight's session goes ahead, we will have had 11 sesssions – slightly down on the seasonal average of 12 or 13 – but I hope you'll still feel you've had value for money.

A big thank-you to Simon and his team of coaches and assistants; Mike & Grenville for preparing the ground; Andy and Michelle for dealing with the subs (and helping with the bar); John and Steve for keeping the bar and barbecue supplied; and all the mums (Maria, Sam, Tracy, Jane and others) who have helped with the cooking.  All these folks give up their time and effort on a purely voluntary basis and it is much appreciated.

Amazingly we've managed to play 45 junior matches and there is still a month of the season left and plenty more South Norfolk Community League games still to play.  There is also the Junior Festival to look forward to.  The Under 9s Festival is on Friday 7th September and the other age groups on Saturday 8th.  I emailed everybody about this some time ago but have not had many responses yet.  I must know the names of all those who wish to participate in the Festival in advance so I can sort out teams – it isn't possible to just turn up on the day and expect to play.  Please get in touch if you haven't already done so.  I will email a reminder!

The nets stay up until late September and it is good to see club members using them but, if you're at the ground on a casual basis, please be sensible and safe (i.e. use protective equipment).  The club cannot accept responsibility for the safety of persons using the nets on a casual basis. Also, please don't leave litter – especially plastic bottles!

Finally, thanks for your support, patience and understanding in what has been a difficult season.  I expect the weather will be lovely in September/October when everyone is playing football and rugby!  Hope to see you during the rest of the summer but, if not, have a good one and we'll let you have details of any winter coaching once arrangements have been finalised.
