Final Ball Defeat for U9s

GREAT MELTON U9s lost to MATTISHALL U9s by 3 runs at Mattishall in a friendly.

Great Melton Under 9s lost to Mattishall by 3 runs scored off the final ball of the match. Batting first Henry Marsh and Max Wilson got the team off to a good start with a partnership of 14 for no wickets. On their debut for the Club Aaron Parish and Sam Mackay, the youngest players on the pitch, showed great promise. Aaron hit a 4 to get off the mark. Corey Rushton and Alfie Sutton showed determined defence. The innings finished with Ben Johnson and Dishan Rai adding 16 runs. Gt Melton reached 256 for 2 wickets. With his first ball in a competitive match Sam Mackay took a wicket. Further wickets were taken by Ben, Henry and Max. Corey kept wicket for the first time and was very tidy in his work behind the stumps running out one of the batters. It all came down to the last ball and a win which would have been thoroughly deserved, slipped away.
