Duncan Greenslade

C Team Captain; Senior & Junior Sub-Committee Member; Right-hand bat; Right-arm bowler.

Father of Chris, Joe, Rebecca and Alice, Duncan has been involved at Great Melton since Chris came to the club in 2008.  Having initially helped with junior coaching, he has taken an ‘if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em’ attitude and announced, in 2010, that he was available for selection.  He has been a ‘regular’ in the C and, occasionally, the B Teams ever since, performing well as batsman, bowler and in the field where he’s taken some excellent catches. Duncan has also assisted at coaching, managed the Under 11s in 2010 and moved up with them as they became Under 13s, U15s, U17s and U19s.  He oversaw them to 3 County finals, 4 South Norfolk Community League wins and 2 Zip League wins before taking on the manager role with the C Team, first assisting Clive Rennie then the Chairman!  Having already experienced all the hard work without enjoying the satisfaction of leading the team on the field, Duncan has now accepted the C Team captaincy and is looking forward to his first full season in 2021.  A carpet-fitter by trade, Duncan’s specialist skills have been called upon at Melton Park and, privately, by numerous club members. He and Maria have both served on the Junior Committee – Duncan’s still on it – and are always willing to help out wherever needed.  He’s a man who can be left to just ‘get on with the job’ and you know he will do it well and he won the Aldous Special Award for Clubman of the Year in 2012 and he overall Clubman award in 2018.
