Dominant U13’s Make it Five in a Row

Great Melton U13’s beat Hethersett & Tas Valley U13’s by 7 wickets at Tas Valley in the Alan Bridgewater Trophy

The U13’s continued their impressive start in the Alan Bridgewater trophy with an impressive win away against Hethersett & Tas Valley. Melton restricted Tas to 42-4 of 16 overs with some very good bowling from all the bowlers. Melton only needed 6 overs to seal the win without loss of wicket.

Hethersett won the toss and chose to bat with the opening batsman of T.Howard (11) & J.Gibson (21) put on a partnership of 34 in 10 overs. Melton bowlers were not making it easy for the Hethersett batsman and the first wicket fell in the 11 over when Finlay Hughes had T.Howard caught by A.Palmer. Next over Thomas Moye struck with a double wicket maiden removing S.Woodruff (0) & J.Rowlinson (0). Hethersett only managed to put on another 8 runs in the final 4 overs, but not before T.Moye caught & bowled J.Gibson in his final over. Hethersett finished with 42-4 with Melton only giving away 7 extras. All of Melton’s bowlers contributed to a very good bowling display with the following figures: Craig Wilson 2-1-5-0, Luke Richards 2-1-3-0, Patrick Walton 2-0-4-0, Beth Harmer 3-1-10-0, Finlay Hughes 2-0-7-1, Thomas Moye 3-1-6-3 & Aimee Palmer 2-1-5-0.

Melton’s openers of Thomas Moye (16 not out) & Beth Harmer (16 not out) didn’t waste any time chasing the small total hitting the bad balls for 4 and scoring at a rate of 8 an over. They quickly reached the required runs in the first ball of the 7th over to win the match by 7 wickets.

Melton has now won five out of five and top the table with 10 points, with their next game away at Diss on Monday 23rd June.
