Comfortable Quarter-Final Win for U13s

GREAT MELTON U13s beat TOPCROFT U13s by 6 wickets at Melton Park in the Alan Bridgewater Quarter Final.

Melton's U13 bowlers restricted Topcroft to just 53-3 in 16 overs to make it a fairly comfortable passage into the semi-final of the Alliance Alan Bridgewater competition.ย  Luke Richards conceded just 4 runs in his 3 overs, Aimee Palmer 2 in her 2 and Pat Walton (2-0-6-0), Tom Moye (2-0-6-1) and Craig Wilson (3-0-9-1) were similarly economical as Topcroft's batsmen struggled throughout.ย  A.Conway (14 not out) and J.Webster (12) tried to break the shackles but even Melton's ‘most expensive' bowlers Beth Harmer (2-0-11-0) and Kyle Weston (2-0-8-0) went for very few runs.

It left Melton a comparatively easy task of scoring at about 3 an over.ย  Fergus Hughes (26 not out) and Tom Moye (6) raced to 49 before Moye was caught & bowled by Rhodes, leaving Hughes to hit the winning runs in the 7th over.

It seems likely that Melton will play old rivals – and Norfolk's strongest U13 side – Great Witchingham, away, in the Semi-Final.
