Finance & Pavilion Sub-Committee Member; Right-hand batsman; Right-arm medium pace bowler.
Chris joined Great Melton at the beginning of the 2012 season, having previously played for Ashmanhaugh. Unfortunately his Melton career has been marred by injuries. He was restricted to just 5 appearances in his debut season although he did manage to play for the First, A and B Teams and bag 5-20 in one of his two appearances for the Bs. in 2013 he managed 9 appearances, taking 10 wickets, didn’t play at all in 2014 and injury again restricted him to just 7 games in 2015. However, in 2016, with son Josh emerging from the junior set-up to establish himself in senior cricket, Chris enjoyed appearing alongside him in the C Team. And having played down his batting for years, he surprised us all by topping the averages and making his highest score – 79 not out! While recurrent injuries mean he can never be classed as “a regular” Chris has played much more often in recent years, with Josh whenever possible, across the full range of teams from C Team to A Team – and on Sundays. He’s still a more than useful bowler. He has also become increasingly involved off the pitch, running the bar at Junior Coaching, helping Maxine Rushton with the pavilion extension project and using his financial experience to provide excellent support for the Treasurer as a member of the Finance Sub-Committee. With his other son Danny also involved he also helps out with junior matches.
