Chris hits Maiden Century as B’s Win Again

GREAT MELTON B (26 points) beat Aylsham St. Giles (6 points) by 83 runs at Town Close in the Lucas & Fettes Norfolk League Division 2

Chris McKay hit his maiden century as Great Melton B continued their winning start to the season against Aylsham St Giles. After electing to bat first on a excellent wicket the Bs overcame the early loss of Toby Wyatt (5) as Woody Loines (42) and McKay added 97 for the 2nd wicket with some fine stroke play all round the wicket. McKay was particularly severe on any loose bowling and his 108 included six sixes. Neal Clarke (31 n.o.) and Eusha Fawad (22 n.o.) then took the score to an excellent 220-4.

In reply Aylsham St Giles started brightly with a opening partnership of 45. Despite a fine fifty from Skipper Rob Bingham the visitors struggled to deal with the accurate seam bowling of Jake Mardell (2-40) Ryan Hayward (1-34) and in-particular Craig Woolrich (1-17) who took the vital wicket of Bingham. Wickets continued to fall and the Aylsham innings ended at 137 all out. Another fine team performance from the B team based on a positive attitude and confidence.
