GREAT MELTON U13s beat GARBOLDISHAM U13s by 6 wickets at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League

The U13s moved a step closer to retaining the South Norfolk Community League championship with an unbeaten record following their 6-wicket defeat of Garboldisham at Melton Park.  Craig Wilson (3-0-8-1), Luke Richards (2-0-8-1), Kyle Weston (3-0-10-1), Max Beckett (2-0-18-1) and Zak Ashdown (2-0-18-1) all took a wicket apiece as Garboldisham scored 77-5 in their 16 overs with David Thorne (13), G.Self (13 not out) and T.Simpson (12) their main contributors.

Weston then got Melton’s reply off to a good start with a quick 17 and, when he was out, Tom Moye (22 not out) and Fergus Hughes (21 not out) knocked off the runs in just 8.4 overs.

Garboldisham then agreed to continue the innings to give their bowlers a few extra overs and Melton’s other batsmen the rare opportunity to have a knock.  With Moye and Fergus Hughes retiring, Finlay Hughes (2), Wilson (17 retired), Richards (26 retired), Max Beckett (13) and Ashdown (4) all got some runs as Melton eventually reached 158-3.

The U13s finish their season at Hethersett & Tas Valley next Thursday.
