Century Partnership as U15s Finish With a Win

Great Melton U15s (14 points) beat Great Ellingham U15s (2 points) by 49 runs at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League

A 2nd wicket partnership of 101 between Joe Bush (39) and skipper Michael Farmer (42) enabled Great Melton to score an imposing 126-4 in their final match of the season against Great Ellingham.  Bush and Farmer played an impressive array of shots after Craig Woolrich had departed in the 2nd over for 1.  It was a good toss to win for Melton as the murky late-season conditions made batting second particularly difficult.  Stuart Wilson took 2-6, Joe Bickel 2-13 and Scott Lyle 1-10 in the fading light as 7-man Ellingham were bowled out for 77.  Thompson batted well for Ellingham, scoring 29 and Lake looked particularly dangerous before Bickel bowled him for 15 with his first ball.  The victory took Melton up to 2nd in the league behind Garboldisham but Tas Valley, with 2 games left to play, could overhaul Melton who will probably finish 3rd, earlier defeats at Belton and Garboldisham ending their chances of retaining the U15 Championship trophy.
