Best Performance of Season Brings Win For U9s

GREAT MELTON U9s beat NORWICH U9s by 19 runs at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League

Their best performance so far this season saw the under 9s beat Norwich CC by 19 runs at Melton Park.Captain Oliver Wormstone won the toss and decided to bat first. Oliver opened with Tommy Elliott and the pair set the standard for the innings taking frequent byes and running well between the wickets. This continued when Harry Cheal and Jack Rowley came to the crease. Dylan Crawley and Noah Moore defended well against the visiting bowlers. Benedict Bailey hit a dazzling 4 as he top scored with 6 and with Thomas Small closed the innings at 162 for 3 (147). The Norwich batters were put under pressure by Oliver and Jack. The fielding was sharp with Dylan,Thomas and Noah staying alert and keeping the pressure on the visitors. Jack made a superb catch off his own bowling and Oliver,Benedict and Noah also took wickets.Tommy claimed 2 run outs with some quick thinking and accurate throwing.Harry was typically brave behind the stumps and conceded just 5 byes. Norwich closed on 158 for 6 (128).Watched by an enthusiastic crowd, both teams enjoyed the match and played with great spirit.
