GREAT MELTON U13s beat HETHERSETT & TAS VALLEY U13s by 43 runs in the South Norfolk Community League

With one game to go – this Friday at Great Melton – against second-placed Great Ellingham, Great Melton U13s are still in pole position in the South Norfolk Community League after a 43-run victory over Hethersett & Tas Valley.

Melton were put in to bat first and got off to a bad start.  Even with Rob Smith hitting some fine shots on his way to 26, Melton lost Craig Attewell, bowled for 1 run, followed by Alex Rennie caught for 2.  Smith was then joined by Ryan Howard who scored 20 runs with some great shots of his own including 3 boundaries.  There were positive innings from Mat Rennie 16* and Matthew Ling 10* which pushed Melton's score up to 101 for 4 which included 26 extras

With a decent score to defend Melton set about the Hethersett & Tas Valley batting with some precise bowling and excellent fielding – 4 of the 7 wickets fell to catches and there was also a stumping for stand in keeper Rob Smith to go with his catch.  Tas Valley's innings was ended in the 11 over for 58 runs, Melton only giving 5 runs in extras. Captain Craig Attewell led the way with figures of 1.4-0-9-2 but he was well supported by Alex Rennie (3-0-18-3), Jacob Bush (1-0-6-1), Matt Rennie (2-1-4-0) and Ryan Howard who bowled a wicket maiden.
