Aimee takes 4-2 as Under 11s beat Tas Valley

Great Melton U11s (43-4) beat Hethersett & Tas Valley U11s (42) by 3 wickets at Flordon in the South Norfolk Community League

Aimee Palmer took 4-2 in 3 overs as last season’s U11 champions Great Melton started the defence of their title with a 3-wicket victory over Hethersett & Tas Valley.   Under ECB guidelines to encourage girls’ cricket Aimee is allowed to play U11 cricket although she is actually an U12 and she certainly proved more than equal to the boys on this occasion, although Lewis Thurston  (2-7) and Patrick Walton (1-4) played their part as the home side were dismissed for 42, Sam Woodruff topscoring for Tas with 7.

Although Sonny Clarke was out first ball on his debut, Logan Stearman added 8 valuable runs before becoming one of Jack Gibson’s 2 victims.  Patrick Walton and Aimee were also dismissed but another debutant, Olly Palmer, came in to hit a boundary off his first ball and, with Jacob Bush (1 not out), saw Melton to victory in the 11th over.
