A Few Bruises as U9s Lose To Horsford

GREAT MELTON U9s lost to HORSFORD U9s by 32 runs at Melton Park in the John Dewing Competition

Despite some moments of excellent cricket, Great Melton under 9s lost by 32 runs to Horsford. Captain Ben Johnson won the toss and put the visitors in to bat. The opening bowlers of Dilshan Rai and Alfie Sutton bowled straight and restricted the batters to just 11 runs from the first four overs. Alfie took the first wicket with a fine catch by Cassie Mawby. The Great Melton fielding was at times very sharp with Corey Rushton, Max Wilson and Dilshan Rai making some fine stops. Horsford closed on 276 for 2 (268 net).
The fastest bowling so far faced by Gt Melton left Max Wilson and Cassie Mawby with bruises to show for some brave batting. Ben Johnson was top scorer with 12 not out with Gt Melton finishing on 268 for 8, a net total of 236.   Despite the loss and the bruises, the happy spirit within the team was there to be seen.
