Victory Follows Defeat for Melton Ladies
GREAT MELTON LADIES lost to GARBOLDISHAM LADIES by 4 wickets at Melton Park in the TGS Women’s League.
Melton ladies welcomed Garboldisham Ladies to a windy Melton park for the 1st ladies game of the summer. The ladies were asked to bat and lost wickets steady with no one able to really take a grip of the game and put a decent score together. Once again our running between the wickets was laboured and non committal. April Herathge top scored with 12 in a disappointing 88-8.
Our bowling and fielding was more like our normal game and we had Garboldisham in some trouble at 36-5 but we were unable to take another wicket until the game was almost lost. Aimee Palmer with 2-12 being the pick of the bowlers. We eventually lost by 4 wkts with 7 balls remaining.
GREAT MELTON LADIES beat NORWICH LADIES by 52 runs at Melton Park in the TGS Women’s League.
On Sunday we finally welcomed Norwich to Melton after 3 seasons of trying. On a brilliant looking batting track we were asked to bat 1st. A new opening partnership of Hannah Brook and Becky Greenslade got the team off to a run a ball 29, 1st wicket stand giving the team great momentum which was carried on by Beth Harmer and Robyn Edge for a unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 76 off 47 balls leaving Melton well placed on 157-2.
The opening pairing of Sam Williamson and Lucy Morton bowled 6 overs for 22 runs to really keep the pressure on the Norwich batters.
April Herathge and Laura Edge came on as change bowlers and laura grabbed a couple of wickets to stop any thoughts of a run chase developing. This allowed us to change a few things with Beth taking the gloves behind the stumps and everyone else having a bowl including Kirsty Soanes and Emily Grisewood having their 1st bowl of the season and a long awaited bowl from Caitlin Ellis who has been recovering from a 6 month back injury. Norwich finished on 105-2.
Many thanks to everyone who has helped score, umpire, sort drinks etc.
