GREAT MELTON U11s (298-2) beat MULBARTON U11s (272-6) by 46 runs at Orchard Park in the Terry Moore Trophy

The Under 11s got their season off to a winning start with a good all-round performance at Mulbarton.ย  With 6 of the 8ย team membersย playing their first ever competitive game the bowling was excellent with only 6 wides bowled in the entire 16 overs.ย  Mulbarton totalled 272, David Matthews scoring 20 and D.Phillipsย  14, but lost 6 wickets (all bowled).ย  Luke Marchant (2-6) was the pick of Melton's bowlers but there were wickets for Tom Moye (1-19), Ryan Howard (1-11), Aimee Palmer (1-9) and Craig Wilson (1-5) and a fine performance by Arvind Shanmugam who kept wicket for the first time and conceded only one bye.

Chasing a net total of 242, Melton then batted sensibly losing only 2 wickets.ย  Mulbarton's bowlers started well but became more ragged as the game wore on and the home side conceded 45 extras as against only 19 conceded by Melton.ย  Fergus Hughes was the star batsman hitting some fine shots in his 17 not out.ย  There were partnerships of 22 between Howard (6*) and Moye (1), 19 between Hughes (17*) and Wilson (2), 18 between James Ingham (5*) and Aimee Palmer (3*) and 29 between Marchant (6*) and Shanmugan (0*) as Melton reached 298-2 to win by 46 runs.
