Great Melton U11s followed the U15s and U13s in completing a hat-trick of victories over Rocklands, winning by 54 runs in the Terry Moore trophy.
As a team they batted, bowled and fielded really well. Special mention to Leon Royle and Henley Barnes who were both on debut. Leon bowled 2 very good overs and Henley took a wicket, clean-bowled. Henley is going to be best man on Friday at his father’s wedding and he was certainly one of the best men in this match. Tight spells from Charlie, Jake and Albert restricted the opportunity for the opposition to score. Evan Mercer also took a wicket but the best figures were achieved by captain, James Alcock (3-0-3-2). George Alcock kept wicket well, conceding only 2 byes.
Earlier Melton had scored 315-3 in their innings, a net score of 297 with James Alcock scoring 32 runs and George Alcock contributing 30. It was too many for Rocklands to chase against Melton’s bowling attack and they fell well short, scoring 267-4 (243 net).
