Great Melton U15s beat Hardingham U15s by 54 runs at Hardingham in the South Norfolk Community League
Holidays made raising a team for the U15s South Norfolk League fixture at Hardingham quite difficult so manager Dave Bickel drafted in 3 of the U13s but Melton still proved too strong for the home side, winning by 54 runs. In fact it was one of the U13s, Connor Stearman, who followed up his half-century the previous day against Topcroft U13s with a top score of 24 in the older age group. He was well-supported by Craig Woolrich (22) and Scott Lyle (22) as Melton, helped by 32 extras, scored 112 all out. The wickets were shared around with J.Harris (2-23) and J.Gaskin (2-25) getting two apiece with one each for F.Falcon (1-12), C.Lackstar (1-11) and D.Billman (1-15).
Lyle (2-0-15-1) struck early in the Hardingham reply, bowling Lee for nought and, once Craig Woolrich (2-0-7-2) had removed the dangerous Harris for 23, Melton were well on top. Two wickets in successive balls for Stuart Wilson (3-0-13-2) put the game beyond Hardingham and Ben Carding (1.4-0-3-2) mopped up the tail in what was a clinical performance. The home side were bowled out for 58 in 11.4 overs.
