U15s Win at Garboldisham
Great Melton U15s beat Garboldisham U15s by 8 wickets at Garboldisham in the Andy Seeley Cup
Sixty from skipper Chris Greenslade and useful contributions from Michael Farmer (19 not out) and Joe Greenslade (17 not out) enabled Great Melton U15s to get their season up and running with an 8-wicket win at Garboldisham.ย It was a close match with the Foxes, batting first, scoring a challenging 110-2 off their 20 overs.ย With 3 postponed games, the U15s were short of match practice and it showed in that the Garboldisham total included 23 extras, 19 of them wides or no-balls.ย Farmer (4-0-8-0) and Sam Carding (3-1-14-1) were the pick of the 7 bowlers used with Craig Woolrich (2-0-13-1) picking up the other wicket to fall.ย S.Baker was the mainstay of the Foxesย innings with 32 butย Danny Taylor (24), Luke Holland (13 not out) and C.Smith (18 not out)ย all made useful contributions.ย Melton's fielding generally was very good.
In reply Woolrich and Chris Greenslade batted sensibly adding 34 before Woolrich went for 9.ย Greenslade hit some excellent shots, including 6 fours and a six, inย his classyย 60ย before being bowled by Taylor with the score on 86 but Farmer (19 not out) looked assured and Joey Greenslade came in to play a superb little knock of 17 not out, to take Melton to victory with an over to spare.
