Great Melton U15s secured the South Norfolk Community League ‘Green’ Division championship with a comprehensive victory over Old Buckenham in their final game. Captain Lohit Kannan and Charlie Green got Melton off to an excellent start with an 87-run opening partnership that ended when Lohit retired having scored 50. Green was eventually out for 17 and Cassie Mawby for 2 but Joseph Graves with some lovely shots in his 29, Corey Rushton (7 not out) and Ben Johnson (10 not out) pushed the Melton score to 158-3. There were 2 wickets for Elliot Stevenson (2-18).

With Johnson (2-0-8-1) having Old Buckenham’s best batsman, Nathan Muggeridge, caught behind by Corey Rushton for 4 and Joseph Graves removing Nicholls and Waller for 4 runs in his one over, the visitors were in some disarray. Ria Wallbank and Stevenson showed some resistance with a last-wicket stand but Lohit (1.5-1-0-1) fittingly bowled Ria to clinch victory. The wickets were shared by Johnson, Graves, Kannan, “golden arm” Ethan Rushton (2-0-5-2) and Taha Raja (2-0-2-1) as Old Buckenham were dismissed for 33.

Congratulations to the U15s who have won all 4 of their SNCL games with the other conceded by Garboldisham and also reached the Quarter-Final of the Alliance Andy Seeley Trophy & the Semi-Final of the ECB Competition. A big-thank-you to Manager Kannan Kuppusamy and other players, coaches and parents who have assisted with umpiring & scoring during the U15s successful season.
