U13s Cruise into Alan Bridgewater Semi-Finals

GREAT MELTON U13s beat TOPCROFT U13s by 103 runs at Topcroft in the Alan Bridgewater Cup Quarter Final

Great Melton U13s cruised into the Alan Bridgewater semi finals with a 103 run victory over Topcroft. Melton, fielding first, saw Topcroft opener Flo get off to a steady start hitting consecutive boundaries before being run out but, with her partner losing two wickets, it was a good start for Melton. Melton again took three wickets from the second pair with Jacob Bush taking a good catch off this own bowling. Topcroft's third pairing didn't lose any wickets against some very good bowling but Rob smith(3-1-20- 3) picked up three wickets in the final pair's innings to give Melton 10 wickets overall. With 6 out of 7 bowlers taking wickets if was a very impressive effort as Topcroft finished on a net score of 201.

Melton only needed to score one run without loss so sensible and conservative batting was called for. All the batsman responded well, picking the right balls to attack with some good shoots

Melton nearly achieved the special feat of not losing any wickets in their innings but, although Jacob Bush was bowled, it was a great performance from the team who finished on 310-1 (302 net). They now meet Ashmanhaugh away in the semi final.
