Having finished runners-up to Asmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers in the Lords Taverners Indoor Tournament at the UEA, Great Melton U12s were invited to join Ashmanhaugh in the Regional Finals when Suffolk dropped out.  The Regional Tournament meant that Melton’s youngsters were up against the champions from Huntingdon, Lincolnshire and Cambridge.  Without three of their first choice players, Luke Marchant, Ryan Howard and Lewis Thurston, the lads faced a tough four matches but the squad of Fergus Hughes, Tom Moye, Logan Stearman, Patrick Walton, Craig Wilson, Matt Ling and Arvind Shanmugan performed with great credit.  Although they lost three matches and finished 5th out of 6, they did manage to beat Ashmanhaugh fairly convincingly and only narrowly lost to the eventual winners Peterborough Town .  Their other two games were also very well-contested.  Thanks to Paul Stearman and Martyn Moye who managed the team on a day when many of the regular coaches were involved in Cricketforce.
