Great Melton u11s 350/4 (326) beat Great Ellingham 248/8 (200) by 126 runs at Great Ellingham in the Terry Moore Trophy
Melton u11s, fielding four players making their first starts for the team, produced an emphatic display on Thursday night in a convincing win at Great Ellingham . After winning the toss and electing to bat the opening pair of Nicholas Conway and Evan Mercer managed a 22 run partnership before the two George’s, Ryan (5*) and Alcock (16*) continued the fine work. James Alcock (20*) then took over from his younger brother with a fine partnership with Jake Canning before the innings was closed in great style by Blade Earley (27*) and Thomas Small (11) to leave the home side chasing 327 for victory.
Evan and Thomas opened the bowling in good form but it was George Ryan (2/3) who opened the account with wickets with both his first and last ball. There were several opportunities for run-outs and four of these were claimed but the bowlers continued to have a field day. George Alcock (1/2) and James (1-10) claiming a wicket a-piece with the latter getting a maiden as did Jake who bowled very well on debut. Despite somehow not claiming a wicket Blade went for just 1 run in his three overs. A fabulous batting and bowling performance all round.
